چکیده
Nineteen male recipients of renal homografts were responsible for 23 pregnancies, resulting so far in 19 live births and one abortion; three additional wives have not yet been delivered of infants. Eighteen of the 19 infants were normal; the abnormal infant had a myelomeningocele and other anom.alies. Eight female recipients have become pregnant ten times. Two of the pregnancies were terminated with therapeutic abortions, and two more are in progress. The other six resulted in live births. There were only two infants with a completely uncomplicated neonatal period. One prem.ature baby died a few hours after birth from hyaline membrane disease. The other five survived, but one had pulmonaryvalvularstenosis, two had evidence of transient adrenocortical insufficiency plus lymphopenia, and one child had the respir.atory distress syndrome. Renal function of three mothers underwent deterioration during pregnancy, but w.as restored after its term i nation

The complement system in renal homograft recipents.
The whole serum complement and its components were studied in 24 recipients of 27 renal homografts. In 12 of 13 instances in which homograft rejection was diagnosed, it was accompanied by significant declines in CHSO, IASO, C4, and C3 levels, and to a lesser degree in C1 and C2 levels. Fourteen patients had normal graft function during the postoperative course of study, and in 13 of the 14 the ...
متن کاملImmunosuppression, liver injury, and hepatitis in renal, hepatic, and cardiac homograft recipients: with particular reference to the Australia antigen.
RENAL homograft recipients have been reported to have a high incidence of livu disease in the post-transplantation period.2f• 29. 31. 56. 65, 70 It was assumed that the immunosuppressive agents were responsible, either by their hepatotoxicity or because the consequent weakening of the host immune system permitted the frequent development of virus hepatitis. An accurate distinction between these...

Acute pancreatitis and hyperamylasemia in renal homograft recipients.
In a series of 301 renal homograft recipi· ents, 17 (5.6%) had acute pancreatitis at some time after transplantation. Eleven of these patients died, for a mortality of 64.7%. In each instance, pancreatitis was a major factor in a complex chain of lethal events to which immunosuppression invariably con· tributed. An additional 43 patients (14.3%) developed asymptomatic hyperamylasemia after tran...
متن کاملPrimary role of renal homografts in setting chronic blood pressure levels in rats.
The genotype of homograft kidneys plays the primary role in determining chronic blood pressure levels in two strains of rats with opposite genetically controlled propensities for hyptertension. In hypertensive rats from the hypertension-prone (S) strain, a renal homograft from the same strain resulted in a slight rise in blood pressure to a level that was equivalent to that in appropriate unine...
